File Renamer – How To Make Your Business Save Money And Time

February 8th, 2010

As someone who is self-employed, you may be losing a lot of your time to some small details. How many times have you spent a lot of time searching for a file that you saved somewhere on your computer? Whether you realize it or not, these types of little organizational problems can add up to a lot of wasted time. You could end up losing hours of productivity on a regular basis when all of those minutes spent searching add up. Your lack of organization could be costing you a lot of money and hours that your business can’t be productive.

Part of the problem in today’s high-tech world is that you may not realize how unorganized you are. Since it’s all in the computer, everything looks just fine to you. You don’t have stacks of papers and files all over your desk. The fact that it’s in the computer gives you a false appearance. But the bottom line is you’re wasting a lot of time when you need a file.

The best solution is to organize your computer so you stop wasting that time and money searching for things. A batch file renamer program is a priority when it comes to organization. With this program organization is a snap.

The first thing you need to do is sort the categories of your files by name. As soon as you do this, sorting through files will be very simple as the category name will be easy to see.

It may take a long time to do this if you are trying to change all of the file names one at a time. This task won’t take long if you have a bulk rename files program. You can highlight all of the similar files and tell the program to rename them. The program will rename and number the files sequentially for you.

One organizational trick is to include the folder name in the file title. One way to do this would be to add the words “sales letter” to all of the files that are in the sales letter folder so you can easily recognize them. And with this kind of program you can change them all at once. And later on, if you decide you want them to be named something different, a renamer program will let you find the text you want to change and alter it quickly and easily.

Being organized on your computer is just as vital as it is in the rest of your business life. Thanks to rename programs it’s now easier than ever to get that spring cleaning done and increase your productivity and profitability.

Sort Out Your Computer Using A Batch File Renamer

January 8th, 2010

Messes don’t just happen in the physical world they also happen on our computer, in the form of files. Almost everyone originally planned on keeping his or her computer nice and organized.

In the beginning you may have kept all of your picture files in one directory. Maybe you also labelled all files with the same style of name such as a date and event as a part of the name followed by a numerical succession. But over time you downloaded pictures from a trip and forgot to name them. Maybe it was because someone e-mailed the pictures that had different filenames that you saved somewhere in your system with those foreign names.

It won’t take long before your computer is a jumbled mess and you need to get down to work and rename files so you can start to figure out just what is what. You can do this in a few different ways.

If you want to waste a lot of time you can go file by file and change the names and locations of them on your computer. With only a couple of files that need their names changed or to be moved to a different location on the computer this is not such a bad way to go.

If there are a lot of files that need to have a name or location changed, however, this is going to take way too long to do. In that case you need a batch renamer program. This program does just what the name implies, allows you to change the names of files in large groups. For example, if you have a bunch of pictures of your last family reunion that are not named properly, you can highlight all of those pictures at once and with this type of file renamer change all of their names to something that makes sense in seconds. Forget the old way of changing files one at a time, using this type of program lets you get everything sorted out in no time flat.

When you realize a bunch of pictures are out of place, just highlight all of them in one window and tell the system where to move them all in the batch renaming program.

The truth is a renamer program is the perfect way to perform a little spring cleaning on your computer and get everything back to just where you want it.

Outsource your Chores

Now more than ever in the racing twenty first century, is time is a more valuable commodity than money?  One of life’s fundamental problems is that you can spend lots of time on tasks that don’t gain you a great deal.  When you could be doing far more productive things, the chores and tasks of everyday life take up too much time to allow you to concentrate on them.

One of the many ways in which you can waste huge amounts of time is on computers; this is contradictory, since they were created to save time.  But even tasks like moving, saving and renaming files and folders can take a large amount of your time, and this has been the case ever since computers first existed.  If you can get rid of some of these tasks, then you can instead spend more time with your friends and family, work on your next business idea or just enjoy your hobbies.

An example of a time swallowing task is when you need to rename files, especially if you have a large music, photo or video collection.  Although completely removing this task is impossible, you certainly can change the way you do it so that it takes you only minutes instead of hours.  And one of the issues in this area is finding an easy to use batch file renaming programme; many are quite tricky to understand. What’s the list of functionality that you need?

With any software to batch rename files, you need to make sure that you can carry out the actions swiftly and easily. But you must also look for extended functionality, like the ability to add increasing and decreasing numbers and dates, if you want to maximise your investment.  Being able to change or clone the dates of files such as the created, modified and last accessed dates can be very handy, especially if you’ve just restored a whole bunch of files from a backup.  The computer will tell you that the files were created after they were last modified, and its almost impossible to fix that with a large number of files without a good bit of software!

Of course you need to be able to add or remove simple text quickly, and try to make sure you can get a preview – if you make a mistake when renaming 1,000 files and find the mistake all over your computer you won’t be happy!  And a really important part of any file renamer software is the facility to alter either file and folder names, file extensions, or all at the same time.  Managing to find one which renames thousands of files in thousands of folders at once is even better!

So maximise your free time by finding software to rename multiple files that has many options as well as great ease of use.
